About the Savannah River Winds (3/2/2002).


The Savannah River Winds, is a community band based in south central SC and northwestern GA. Members come from various walks of life and musical experience and expertise, with most being band directors and/or professional performing musicians. Performances are held in different venues in the Aiken, SC - Augusta GA area.

- - - - - The Savannah River Winds is an adult group made up of musicians from the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). The ensemble is comprised of band directors and local musicians from Georgia and South Carolina. The conductors are Lou Cefus and Richard D. Brasco.
- - - - - The ensemble gave its first performance in the spring of 2001. The Savannah River Winds has performed throughout the CSRA, including for the Hopeland Gardens Summer Concert Series in Aiken South Carolina. SRW has performed for the GMEA District Ten Honor Band Clinic at Augusta State University in 2002 and 2003for the last two years. (Written 06/15/2003).

HERITAGE PARK: is in North Augusta, Georgia.

DIRECTIONS FROM I-20

1 – exit on Martintown Road, headed into North Augusta.
2 – turn right at the stoplight onto Georgia Avenue.
3 – turn right at the stoplight onto West Spring Grove Avenue.
4 – continue on West Spring Grove Avenue over West Avenue
. . . and you will dead end into Heritage Park.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO AUGUSTA STATE UNIVERSITY


Heading West on I-20, exit at Washington Road. At the bottom of the exit ramp,
turn left onto Washington Road.

Drive approximately 1.2 miles (you'll pass a TGI Friday's and
Lone Star Steakhouse on the right as you drive).

Turn right onto Berckman's Road just before the water tower. Continue 2.2 miles uphill to Walton Way. (Pass a French Market Grill on the right. Berckman Road changes to Highland Avenue at Wheeler Road.)

Turn left onto Walton Way. Pass Monte Sano Road on the right, and the next three turns to the right turn onto the ASU campus. The middle campus entrance leads to parking and the library.

Heading East on I-20, exit at Wheeler Road. Turn right onto Wheeler Road.

Get into the right lane and continue to the intersection with Walton Way Extenstion

Turn Right onto Walton Way Extension and move immediately to the left lane.

In 0.4 miles, the left lane veers left into Walton Way. Continue on Walton Way to the top of the hill and look for the campus on the right.

From downtown, at the intersection of 15th and Walton Way, travel west on Walton Way (away from downtown) 1.9 miles uphill.

The campus will be to the left.

Building number 25 on the map below is the Performing Arts Center.


























Directions to Hopeland Gardens


Located at the corner of Whiskey Road and Dupree Place in Aiken, SC. Take I 20 to exit #18 and go south on SC #19 (Laurens Street) 9.1 kilometers. Turn left onto Richland Avenue (still called SC #19) and go east 0.3 km (2 blocks). Turn right onto Chesterfield Street and go south on SC #19 for 1.4 km. Turn right onto Dupree Place, and the parking lot will be on the left.
